Osteopathy is wholistic hands-on healing science and art. The osteopathic practitioner’s goal is to find the root of the problem and to try to restore proper motion and flow in all tissues so that the entire being can function optimally. Osteopathic treatments are often very gentle and vary from session to session depending on the areas being addressed. Modalities used in treatment range from cranial osteopathy and visceral manipulation to fascial release work and osteoarticular adjustments.
Andrew Taylor Still founded osteopathy in 1874. Dr. Still believed that the body had the inherent capacity to heal itself given the right conditions. He studied the body in incredible detail, both anatomically and physiologically, giving him deep insight into the proper functioning of human form. Dr. Still also understood the importance of the Triune of man, that is, the interconnection of body, mind and spirit. His teachings were less about techniques, but rather a way of being; a unified expression of art and science. He considered in the student´a work to keep digging for knowledge and to strive for excellence.
Julie graduated from the Collège d’Études Ostéopathiques in 2015. Prior to studying osteopathy, Julie obtained a BSc. in biology from Dalhousie University as well as a diploma in massage therapy.

Osteopathy can help with a range of acute physical conditions such as strains, sprains, whiplash, headaches, neck and back pain as well as issues arising from pregnancy, just to name a few.
Osteopathy’s approach to various ‘itis’ conditions such as tendonitis, bursitis, and arthritis can be greatly improved by viewing the body as an integrated whole. The osteopathic principle of the interrelatedness of structure and function are at the forefront of treating systemic problems such as neurological syndromes, digestive disorders (including colicky babies), chronic ear and throat infections and respiratory illnessses.
